Historic Equipment

Our gym takes pride in collecting and preserving vintage equipment. We have actually been told by many visitors that the gym is like a museum of gym history. The unique thing about collecting hand picked vintage equipment is that every piece tells a story of fitness history, representing the evolution of strength training and the dedication of athletes throughout the decades. Many of the pieces we have collected are only 1 of very few in the world.

1960s York Roundheads

1960s York Roundheads

This iconic York Barbell Company, a pioneer in weightlifting equipment. One of the oldest long standing fitness equipment companies in the game and a hallmark of the golden era of bodybuilding. The set includes a 1-10 set in 1lb incriments and a 5-100lb set in 5lb incriments. The distinctive York logo and the patina on the metal speak to decades of use by dedicated lifters.

1970s Nautilus Pullover

1970s Nautilus Pullover

The holy grail of old school training and staple for Dorian Yates legendary back was the original Nautilus Pullover. Designed by Arthur Jones, this revolutionary machine changed the landscape of resistance training. It was one of the first to utilize variable resistance through the use of a cam. The Nautilus Pullover specifically targeted the lats. Its unique design allowed for a full range of motion and intense muscle contraction.

Icarian Prototype Squat Machine

Icarian Prototype Squat Machine

One of the rarest pieces we have on the gym floor is our Icarian Prototype Squat Machine. We know that in the old days Gold's Gym Vience was a test ground for a lot of new equipment and was able to find some old video footage of this piece being used on the gym floor. Only other one we have seen was a blue model at Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym.

Hammer Strength H-Squat

Hammer Strength H-Squat

Probably the most unique piece of gym equipment ever created was the Hammer Strength H-Squat. Rumor has it that Gary Jones drew up the design at lunch on a napkin and the team made it a reality. Collectors believe that only 600 of these were ever produced and much fewer still exist today. We have one of the lowest serial numbers amongst collectors at #168.

Medx Tricep Extension

Medx Tricep Extension

In the later years Nautilus was on the decline and Aruthor Jones decided to sell the company and later on went to produce Medx. This was the perfection of all of his work, where he spent countless hours of research to fix all of the problems he found with Nautilus. This particular piece offers a unique arm motion that you won't find with any other machine.

Flex Fitness Leverage Chest Press

Flex Fitness Leverage Chest Press

Another holy grail of bodybuilding history is the Flex Fitness Leverage Chest Press. This piece was used by almost every big time Olympia winner in the 80s-00s. This piece has the perfect mechanics with the convergence of the press and loading mechanics of the leverage system.
